Most common diseases in horses

Tetanus: Is caused by a bacterial toxin normally found in the soil ad in the feces of horses. This bacteria enters the body at the sight of a wound or the umbilical cord stump in a foal.

ts symptoms are early signs of colic and stiffness. Horses will develop spasms in the jaw, neck, hind legs and muscles around the wound. tetanus is often fatal, but a yearly vaccine can prevent it.

Equine Encephalomyelitis (sleeping sickness):
This is a disease that affects the nervous system, and can be caused by equine encephalomyelitis viruses (Eastern, Western, and Venezuelan), which are carried by mosquitoes. Signs include depression and a high fever, followed by a period when the horse appears blind, nervous and uncoordinated, with muscle tremors, and eventually, complete paralysis. Proper vaccination and good mosquito control are important to help prevent this disease.

Equine Influenza:

Is an upper respiratory disease spread by inhalation of drops of infective material. It is similar to the flu in humans. Its symptoms are dry, hacking cough, sudden onset of fever, watery nasal discharge, weakness, loss of appetite and depression. Infection with equine influenza is rarely fatal but can cause problems such as emphysema, pneumonia or bronchitis.

Equine Herpesvirus (rhinopneumonitis, rhino, viral abortion):
There are 2 types of equine herpesvirus: EHV-1, which causes respiratory disease (fever, cough, nasal discharge), reproductive problems (abortion, stillbirth), and neurological problems (hindlimb weakness, difficulty walking, sometimes paralysis); and EHV-4, which is usually limited to respiratory problems. Once a horse has been infected with EHV-1 or EHV-4, he will always be a carrier, and may shed the virus during times of stress. It is highly contagious and can spread rapidly throughout a herd.

Rabies:

This is a highly fatal viral infection of the central nervous system, and although it is not common in horses, rabies can be transmitted to horses by the bite of an infected animal such as a skunk, raccoon, fox, dog or bat. Rabies can be transmitted to people. Its symptoms include, increased saliva, excitability, disorientation and running blindly. We recommend that you check with your veterinarian regarding recommendations for rabies vaccination for your horse.

This dog is a Great Danes, i love this breed because they are so bigger, and playful, their looks are a little intimidating, but they are very warm, perfect for company, and to make your life more happy.

This breed is a Pug Carlino, this little dog has a very funny face, and their tail too. It is like a little piggy, and make noises like them, they are very lazy and loyal with their owners. I love them because they are just too cutte, and have a face that is just too irresistible.

This little monkey is from China, they live in vey cold climates, and there is not very much information about them. I love this picture because his looks are so tender.

POST Nº 6: Why do i want to be a vet?

First of all, since my childhood i have loved the cience, and always loved the medicine, and of course, i love the animal above all, even sometimes i prefer animals above the humans, (thats why i couldn't be a human doctor, because i don't have the patience with the people).
I also like the nutricion, and maths, but again i dont like to work with people, and maths are monotonous. There are others carrers that are interesting for me but, the distance from my family it is an obstacle (i can't live without my mommy).
I decided to be a vet because since very child i always have pets in my house and love them very much, so when they where sick i wanted to heal them. Also i have some friends that are vets that showed me the carrer and made me more attracted to the veterinary medicine.
My experience in the university until now has been very good, the subjects are so much interesting, specilly histology, anatomy, biology... i think that while time passes i like more and more my carrer.
Rigth now the job that i would like to do it is uncertain, because i have to see and experience all the areas that my university offers, although the surgery has caught my attention.

POST Nº5 MY FAVORITE ANIMAL(S)

Well, i like almost every animal... i think that each of them are cute in diferent sides, and is very admirable the capacity they have to live in this planet without destroying it.
I am gonna write about the Lion, one of my favourite animals, this big cat is the simbol of dignity and bravery. This fearsome feline that was venerated by the old cultures is now at risk of extinction, specifically in critical danger at some areas, and in others places they are vulnerable... obviously because of the human race... I really like the mane of the lion, it is a very cute animal, lazy, wild...
I also like this other little guy that is very opposite with the before described... the chipmunk, i think is very adorable, tooo cute, loveable, and small...just take a look at the picture, i simply love their faces :3

Post 4: My Favorite piece of technology... tablet

I have many tools that i love, but the most important and my favourite is my tablet, in the past it used to be my laptop but this litte tool has become in something much more useful for me because of its portable desing,  i can use this everywhere i go, in adittion it is fast and you can put the size of the memory and use external devices for make it more bigger, you can put all the apps that you need (office, etc), long lasting battery and finally it is very light so my back does not hurt like it used to be with my laptop in my backpack.
My dad gave it to me this year so it is new and updated, like i explain before i use this for everything and every day (to go online, check my mail, facebook, read, study, buy, etc).
My life without this device it will very tiring, and stressful for use more than one tool for all that i like and have to do, although maibe i would have more free time for sports, and other stuffs. :v
